Make sure it has the orange label! Gives you a good clean edge
Sticks to paint but is safe release unless prep coat was not done properly
I use the 1.5" size the most but available in 3/4", 1", 2" as well.
Not cheap but well worth it!
Bosch Laser level, can be found at Home Depot
I use it for vertical, horizontal stripes; crosshatch and strie techniques; setting up patterns or stencils.
Polyvine glazing products. Water Based Glaze. I mostly use their Contractors glaze for doing crosshatch, strie or softening techniques.
It's clear and does not have a dryer in it so you can't use it straight out of the can. Read the directions! I like to use clear glazes so I add Zar Poly acrylic for the drying component instead of latex paint. Then I tint the glaze with mixol to get my color.
Zar Products- prefer this brand over Minwax.
I use this as the additive for the polyvine glazes.
Also use this to clear coat all the furniture I do. Their 'Antique Flat' is the best!
Although it is a water based products, I recommend using a mask when using this.
Tekk respirator
I use this when glazing with the polyvine. If I'm spraying I use the real big double respirator.
7" rollers, either plush or foam. These are easy to use and easy to clean.
Modern Masters Metallic or Pearl or Mica Paint.
I like the amount of mica in there products. Sometimes i'll mix this into the glazes to give the technique some shimmer.
Chip brushes! Yes, these are cheap but after you wire brush them, they make great brushes for Strie, crosshatch and softening techniques.
Mixol Universal Tints. Available in many colors. I use these to tint the glazes when doing strie, crosshatch, and softening techniques.
If you are familiar with artist colors, the tints come in the same assortment. Only glitch is that there is no english writing on these! Their website will give you the cross reference.
Most common tints I use: 2-umber, 22-burnt umber, 24-raw umber, 5-ochre, 1-black
This is pure color-no drying agents. Can be mixed into water or oil based paints.
